Maharishi Marma Therapy is rooted in the Ayurvedic health tradition of India. This profound method of healing though the body’s vital energy points, has been used for thousands of years.

Your vital strength is contained within points of power called marmas

Ayurveda sees the life-force that animates our body as flowing through a network of nadis or subtle energy channels. Marmas are like miniature power stations within that network that control and regulate the flow of life-energy.

Blockages within this energy network can lead to numerous health problems. By releasing such blockages, Maharishi Marma Therapy can produce very profound effect that would be hard to replicate with other treatments.

Sequential treatments of different marma points helps to detoxify, revitalise and de-stress the whole body/mind system. So, if you have a specific complaint or just want a health boost, Maharishi Marma Therapy can help.

Great healing secret of Ayurveda

Marma Therapy is the art of treating very special vital points on the human body and is one of the greatest healing secrets of Ayurveda. It can be used to detoxify the body, to strengthen and revitalise, for rejuvenation and relaxation, and to release blocked energy.

Through these energy points we can stimulate the function of internal organs, strengthen self-healing power, and harmonise mind and body. It can help improve eyesight, balance the digestive system, alleviate headaches, reduce tension, and alleviate or cure many everyday complaints.

Maharishi Marma Therapy is based on Sukshma Marma, which has been developed over the last few decades by Dr Ernst Schrott. It is a soft yet powerful treatment of the body’s marma points (vital areas) and nadis (energy channels) to purify, strengthen, rejuvenate and revitalise the body.

This holistic treatment covers a wide spectrum of applications: from simple self-treatment to elaborate clinical therapy, by specially trained therapists.

In South India, Marma Therapy is extensively used as an independent treatment. Yet almost all Ayurvedic treatments include the treatment of marmas, as they are key points in the body’s intelligence and affect both body and mind. Such treatments are applied using massage and oil applications, herbal and heat packs, and cleansing treatments.

Apanga Marma Face Massage

Ancient tradition made available in the West

In traditional Indian natural medicine, there is often only limited application of Marma Therapy: The treatment is concentrated less on the energy field of the Marma point and more on the tissue structure that is extensively included in a massage. In some ways, this treatment is similar to the muscle, tendon and trigger point massage in Western physiotherapy.

With support from J. R. Raju, M.D., Ernst Schrott, M.D. has created a soft, natural and effective therapy based on Vedic knowledge, classic ayurvedic texts and years of studies and research, supplemented by practical and clinical experience and verbal Marma traditions.

This gentle Marma treatment technique, the Sukshma Marma® Concept, is now presented and taught in Europe by best-selling author Ernst Schrott, M.D., board member of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Ayurveda, head of the Deutsche Ayurveda-Akademie and Co-Director of the Department for Ayurveda Massage Therapy at the Maharishi Colleges for Perfect Health International.

Sensitivity “smart hands”

Maharishi Marma Therapy works on the level of consciousness and requires sensitivity “smart hands”, as well as proper training. It has specific and immediate balancing and healing effects when used in self-treatment or treatment by a Maharishi Marma therapist.

It should not include any pressure on the marma points. Very subtle touch, or attention alone, can enliven the inner intelligence located in the marmas and can quickly bring about balancing, rejuvenating and healing effects.
