During May 2019 (exact dates to be announced), we will have the great pleasure and privilege of welcoming two Ayurveda doctors from the revered Raju family tradition: Vaidya Harsha Raju and Vaidya Pavani Raju.
Practicing Ayurveda for over 13 generations, the Raju family specialise in:
- a refined, accurate and comprehensive patient evaluation system called Nadi Vigyan or pulse diagnosis.
- Marma Therapy treatment of the body’s vital energy system, which has always been a feature of the Raju’s family tradition.
Nadi Vigyan

In Ayurveda, diagnosis is mostly done through three types of examination:
- Darshana (visual observation)
- Sparshana (pulse diagnosis)
- Prashana (questioning)
Ayurvedic pulse diagnosis is called Nadi Vigyan and is the ancient science of detecting the status of a person’s body, mind and soul. Nadi means pulse and it is the flow of vital energy that courses through subtle channel into all parts of our body.
Feeling the pulse enables the Vaidya to detect the way the blood flows from the heart into all our organs and tissues. From the subtle impulses given off by the pulse they can detect imbalances in any part of the body. The Vaidya can then go on to diagnose and give recommendations to treat the ailments they detect, or prevent them occurring in the first place.
In pulse diagnose both doctor and patient experience a taste of transcendent, pure awareness, or the silence that underlies all things. This lively silence is subtly yet intimately communicated between doctor and patient and some healing can occur while the pulse is being taken.
Vaidya Harsha Raju and Vaidya Pavani Raju will use their considerable Nadi Vigyan skills during their Ayurveda consultations.
Marma Therapy

Marma Therapy helps awakening the inner, immortal structure of the body by opening specific Marmas or “immortality” points. Marma points around the body acts as windows to the Atma (consciousness) level of the physiology.
This [Marma] is from the source – from the Agni [life force]. The Marma is controlling the Agni…controlling the Vata, Pitta, Kapha, and controlling the Kundalini (yogic energy), and it is managing the energy of the Atma [the unbounded Self].” – Dr J R Raju
When we open these points regularly, the immortality, energy, and healing power of natural law come more and more onto the physical body level. “These Marmas are the hidden vibrations, which are hidden in the physiology. Your body is producing the vibrations, and every time you clear the Marmas it is stronger, more powerful. – Dr J R Raju
When you are doing your own Marma, you are activating your energy and the Marma point, so you are making it strong…strengthening yourself. Especially for the heart and the head. Both are considered as heart in Ayurveda. Those things are having the Ojas [strength] in them, so just we are feeling that Ojas in that area when we do Marma. – Dr Krishna Raju
Both Vaidya Harsha Raju and Vaidya Pavani Raju are highly skilled in Marma Therapy, especially as it an integral part of their family tradition.
